For more hair ideas, please visit our site: princesshairstyles.com This unique “crochet” looking ribbon braid was inspired by a picture of a hairstyle someone posted on our facebook page and requested if we would show how to do the ribbon. I’m not sure where the picture came from or who actually made up this ribbon technique, but I think it looks pretty cool! It took me awhile to figure out how to do it, but if you know how to crochet, this should be easy for you. Of course you could use this technique in sooo many different hairstyles to spice up your braids. I’m thinking this would be great for gymnastics, cheerleading, soccer, sports and other occasions. The stranding for this braid is a little complex, since you are using five strands instead of three, but once you get the hang of it – the braid will take very little time to create. If you do not know how to braid with 5 strands, make sure you are comfortable with a 3-strand braid first. You can see our 3-Strand Messy Braid tutorial here… http Watch carefully to see how we incorporate the other two strands, then, as we finish, we tie off the braid and then loosen the “elbows” of the braid. When I walk around with this braided hairstyle, I receive so many compliments because it does not look like a regular braid. Other girls want to know exactly how I did it.
