A hair cut really defines a big part of your image. I remember my little brother always strived to have the coolest hair cut around. He would cut and trim down his hair by himself for hours in the bathroom and every time he came out of it, he had a crazy looking hair do and somehow every one liked them. These are all the styles I can remember him of having:

• A 6 inch Mohawk

• A Completely shaved head

• Spiky wild hair

• Long hair

• A small Mohawk

• 50/50 hair do

• The Krusty look

• And much much more!

There are countless of cool hair cuts, and if you can see I even had to make up names for the looks my brother had. I called the 50/50 hair do a style that had half of the head trimmed really short, and the other half trimmed down not so short. But the trimming had to be done in such a manner that the middle had to be longer than the rest, really complicated do if you ask me. My brother said he would like to copy German soccer team player, Bastian Schweinsteiger, but he’s never actually got to copy it as good.

But the coolness of a hair style really depends on the image you want to express. For example, a completely shaved head doesn’t suit most people, or at least it certainly didn’t work for my brother. I’d say that the classical cool hair cuts for men are spiky hair, long hair and small Mohawks.

But there are cool styles for different kind of men. For teenagers the above mentioned is perfectly good, but for guys a little bit older there are different styles. A guy that always seems to have a cool hair do is David Beckham, so I would recommend you to keep an eye out for him because he always seems to have that good looking hair we women love so much! Another famous personality that has always had a great hair cut, one of my favorites, is James Bond. No matter which actor represents him, James Bond will always have a great looking hair style.

But no matter who, or which style you choose to have, a cool hair cut style can only look cool if it’s the right one for you. It all depends on your facial shape, hair color – which is a huge factor is defining which is cool and which is not -, and confidence. An excellent tip is to bring a picture of the style you want to your hairdresser and ask him if it fits your or which fits you.

If you are thinking about a new hair cut, it is worth putting some thought into it before visiting the hair dresser. Firstly, tie your hair back from your face so you can see it clearly and assess your face shape. At Colour Me Beautiful we divide different face shapes into the following five categories: Oval, Square, Rectangle, Inverted Triangle and Round. Different face shapes look better with certain hair styles as follows:

Oval: If you have a balance oval shaped face you have more choice as most hair styles will suit you.

Square: If you have a square face, hair styles that soften the outline of your face will be more flattering. Avoid straight bobs and straight fringes as these will accentuate the shape of your face.

Rectangle: If you have a long narrow face, softer layered styles will at width to your face. Avoid straight long hair as this will make your face look longer. A fringe can make your face look shorter.

Inverted Triangle: By adding volume and interest to your jaw line you can balance your face and make the upper part look less wide and the lower part less narrow. Fringes should be light and volume on the top avoided.

Round: Angular cuts are better for a round face and round bobs or a tightly perm should be avoided.

Other factors that need to be considered are your age, the texture of your hair (thick or fine) the colour and whether or not it has natural wave or is dead straight. Some styles just won’t work with some hair textures and while you do want to look up to date, your hairstyle needs to suit your age and lifestyle.

An Image consultant can help you with choosing the right colour and style to suit you and most good hairdressers can advise you on what styles will suit your hair type. It is worth looking at magazines and finding pictures of hair styles you like and think about how much time you can spend styling your hair at home. This will be the starting point for your hairdresser to find a unique and flattering style that you can manage.

This section is ideal for those of you who do not want to spend so much time in daily hair care. Yes, it is not easy to maintain those lovely, full curly locks if time is so consuming.

Therefore, you can try some of the following techniques to keep your hair simple and elegant. Most importantly, use a shampoo which keeps your hair healthy and shiny. Avoid using those which leave your scalp itchy with dandruff, hair loss, dull, brittle with split ends. For conditioning solution, use a hair conditioner or softener after shampooing your hair to keep it soft and smooth, and easy to comb.

Once a week, apply hair masque all over your hair, avoiding the scalp, wrap it up with a shower cap or warm towel, leave the masque on for 20 minutes, rinse and towel dry after that. Use a hair dryer to dry your hair or just leave it to dry itself. Apply some hair cream or serum to keep hair moisturize.

Talking about straight hair, there are many styles of straight hair. You can try the U shape pattern, the V shape pattern, slightly layered at the sides, or just simple straight hair with some fringe in front.

Use a good shampoo and conditioner plus weekly hair masque to treat and repair your hair condition from exposure to changing weather.

You can tie up your hair for a change to look different. Try different kinds of pony tail, bun up, twist and clip. You may try to colour or highlight your hair to improve overall hairstyle.

If short hair matches your look, then it is great to stay with short hair. Try many short hair styles and you will not get bored. It is very easy to maintain, just trim the sides and back every few months to stay in shape. Shampoo, condition and treat your hair often. Try various kind of hair bands and clip to for extra style once in a while.

You may try to colour or highlight few strands to stay cool and up to date.

You like curls? Try the easy ones, go for soft perm with latest technique.

No need hair sprays or thick gels to stand your curls. Try soft perm at the hair ends, let your hairstylist know your requirements, so he or she will do something which you can still maintain your curls easily everyday without combing the ends.

Are you one of those wishing for the ultimate salon experience? Somebody who has kept her long hippy hair for decades and just dying to finally chop it off in favor of some new and trendy do? Why not release your inhibitions and just make that trip to the salon and having yourself dolled up with an edgier cut done by professionals with hair thinning scissors?

Whether its a shag or layered or fringed this thinning hair shears will do just the trick to give you the look that you want to achieve. Want to try a style that is truly different. Try an emo-style cut with these tips from Brooke Hayles.

Typical Emo haircuts are characterized by asymmetrical lines, bold highlights and jet black hair. Emos don’t move with the herd and their haircuts are simply an extension of this belief. In most cases, Emo haircuts are one of a kind experiments and not the type that you can get at an ordinary salon. In fact, it is perfectly acceptable to create your own Emo style with a pair of scissors, razor and dye.

There are is no set technique to an Emo-cut. It maybe described as more of a personal art-form, an expression of one’s deepest emotions. In other words, any style can pass off as an Emo hairstyle as long as it doesn’t look like one of those “dos” that you might wear to a prom or a club.

Both Emo men and women dye their hair jet black and the bolder the effect, the better. You don’t have to worry about the dye looking unnatural and can even shade the edges with frosted highlights, blue or purple.

However in her article Best Celebrity Hairstyles for Your Face – Part 3 of 6, Periann Rodriguez warns that in order for us to pull of a great, new hairstyle aided by a professional hair scissors, we ought to look into the following queries.

1. What aspect of your hair would you like to enhance? (i.e. texture, volume, wave, length, color) These aspects have an important role in fine-tuning the hair style that best suits you.)

2. How much time do you spend styling your hair every day? If you get a hair style that requires more styling time, will you be able (and willing) to put in the time?

3. Are you good at dealing with your hair, or do you struggle with getting it to do certain things? If you struggle with your hair, you would not want to pick a high maintenance hair, i.e. lots of layering, curls as they will require extra work.

4. Are you more comfortable with long or short styles? Sometimes we see a fantastic celebrity short hair style and desperately want the look. Remember that once you cut the hair off, it will take a long time to grow back. Of course there are hair extensions!

5. How often do you shampoo/condition your hair? Referring to hair extensions above, if you want long, beautiful hair with hair extensions, be aware of the extra time needed to shampoo/condition your hair. And every time you shampoo/condition your hair, you will be re-styling it.

6. Is your hair extremely dry or oily? Very dry hair may not hold up to constant flat ironing, curling irons, etc. If you need these appliances to create your celebrity hair style, be sure to deep-condition your hair regularly to combat the dryness. Extremely oily hair may not hold a curl, and will definitely cause issues with many hair extension methods. Be realistic about what you can do with your hair.

7. Are you experiencing any type of unnatural hair loss? Hair loss can be camouflaged by your hair style. Don’t pick a hair style that will accentuate your hair loss or thinning. Be sure to look into various hair loss treatments. If caught early, many hair loss situations can be reversed or at least halted.

8. Do you have any cowlicks or a natural and persistent part? No matter what hair style you get, you will need to consider these issues. Adapt the hair style you are looking for to accommodate any imperfections in your hair.

9. You have picked a celebrity hair style that you want. Do you know what the styling requirements are to get your hair to look like that every day?
