I would recommend a side fringe if you have straight hair or a straight fringe for frizzy or curly hair.
A nice headband or barrettes are a timeless choice

My hair is like a inch or two above my shoulders and i do braids in the back of my head, little pig tails in the back of my head, and a half-back!
